We've just released a new animation that describes our approach to wayfinding.
This year we launched a new brand for Handley House – a leading international design Group and parent company for Holmes Wood and Benoy. Inspired not only by the Group's heritage, but also by the literal meaning of house: “A building or group of rooms, in which people, especially a family or a small group of people, meet for a particular activity.”
More about the project here.
We're pleased to see that our scheme for King's Cross public realm has just been shortlisted for the Design Week Awards 2018 Wayfinding and Environmental Graphics category. More about the project here.
Earlier this year, we launched a rebrand for Benoy, a global family of design specialists committed to delivering world-class solutions for the built environment. Our work encompassed internal and external communications, photography, website, print and film.
Our recently installed scheme for the redeveloped Television Centre – inspired by the history and graphic language of the site. More about the project here.
We created a group wide wayfinding masterplan for Hammerson, so that strategic, product and graphic design principles can be applied across all sites. Westquay and Bullring are two locations where our work has been installed, to date.
See more about this ongoing project here.
We recently designed a Letters to a Beekeeper with Alys Fowler, The Guardian gardening writer as she learned how to keep bees; and Steve Benbow, the urban beekeeper who learned how to plant a bee-friendly garden.
Part beautifully designed coffee-table book, part manifesto, this collection of engaging letters, emails, texts, recipes, notes and glorious photos creates a record of the trials, tribulations, rewards and joys of working with, rather than against, nature. And along the way, you will pick up a wealth of advice, tips and ideas for growing food and keeping pollinators well fed.

Holmes Wood went along to the House of MinaLima in Soho for an evening with Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, the graphic designers behind the Harry Potter films. A reunion for our own Lucy Holmes who went to school with Miraphora, here we are in the Old Bedalian newsletter, which we designed for them a few years ago.
New photography from our continuing work with Battersea Power Station – showing two residential developments and the design for the car park – including all wayfinding elements and extending to floor graphics and bay markings. More about the project here.
Our new scheme for the Gasholders residential building in the heart of King’s Cross – inspired by their original function and structure. More about the project here.
Our new scheme for London Business School's new Sammy Ofer Centre – our ambition was to deliver an ‘intelligent’ system – representing the type of education and subjects studied alongside the journeys taken by the students.
New images from our wayfinding scheme for King's Cross public realm. It was inspired by the vanishing point of railway tracks, supported through form, materials and typography.
This is a small preview of our work for the Helios at The Television Centre in a clip from the BBC, marking its opening today!
Delighted to have had film composer Alexandra Harwood come and talk to us about Exploring the Synergies Between Music and Architecture and the concept of space in music and architecture. An amazing talk, thank you!
We designed a new map and welcome leaflet for the wonderful Bletchley Park. The texture and typography was inspired by the codebreaker's archive material from this historically important site.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year from Holmes Wood! Spot the cast of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at our 70's themed Christmas party...
Beautiful work at the Wellcome's 'Can Graphic Design Save Your Life?' exhibition. It is on until February next year and is full of wonderful design stories.
Take a look at our design for the Tapestry Building in King’s Cross, a fifteen story residential building designed by Niall McLoughlin Architects. Paying homage to the history of makers and craft, our design looks to preserve the old and weave it into the new for todays generation of residents. More photos here ...
We are delighted to have been featured in the SEGD 17 edition, with our work for the Plimsoll Building at King's Cross. Thank you SEGD!
