King’s Cross, Public Realm

Bringing ease of navigation to an iconic London landscape

A premium wayfinding design solution that leverages history and heritage to create a major new urban destination.

A 67-acre site with a rich history and unique setting. What was once an industrial wasteland is now a vibrant urban centre complete with shops, offices, galleries, bars, restaurants and schools. This new and complex site required a bespoke, premium wayfinding solution to provide easy and intuitive navigation for residents and passers-by alike. Leveraging the site’s heritage, our design concepts were inspired by the vanishing points of railway tracks, supported through materials, form and typology. Our public realm wayfinding also accommodates rapidly evolving site components and enables the quick changeover of information as new zones and routes open up. The scheme, integrating seamlessly with the surrounding architecture, has improved access across the estate and beyond, while helping to cement the Kings Cross reputation as a major urban destination.
