National Trust, Cliveden

Giving voice to a stately brand through visual language, tone and typography

A subtle design scheme that blends National Trust identity with a playful visitor experience.

The National Trust’s Cliveden comprises 375 acres of formal gardens and woodlands overlooking the River Thames. Holmes Wood were tasked with developing a light-touch signage and branding scheme to marry the National Trust identity with an expression of ‘Cliveden’ and ‘Pleasure’. Our solution centred on establishing a language that was welcoming and playful, supported by bespoke pictograms and materials intended to give Cliveden a voice throughout the parkland. This new approach to tone, typography, iconography, colour and materials allows the Cliveden personality to shine through, while ensuring visitors know they have arrived at a National Trust property.
